Sustainability as a guiding principle of our actions
For more than three decades, sustainability has been at the heart of our actions. Our core principles – resource efficiency, post-care freedom, minimal residual risks, and knowledge preservation – shape our daily work. These principles are also embedded in our Wismut Mission Statement, formulated in 2019, and guide us in the responsible remediation of our sites.
Introduction of sustainability management
In order to pursue our sustainability goals more consistently, we have been intensively working on the introduction of sustainability management since 2022. With this, we are making further efforts to systematically capture and improve the social, environmental, and economic aspects of our activities. Through structured measures and clear objectives, we not only ensure compliance with our principles but also create the foundation for long-term business success.
Transparency and responsibility
Sustainability is a central component of responsible action for Wismut GmbH. Irrespective of legal requirements, we are actively committed to protecting the environment and society and act transparently in line with our ecological, social and corporate responsibility.
With the annual publication of our environmental report, we provide open information about our measures, goals and progress.
Stakeholder survey: Your opinion matters
A key component of our sustainability strategy is the stakeholder survey. It focuses on how important individual aspects and areas of action in sustainability should be for our company. We want to ensure that the perspectives of all those whose work or living environment is influenced by Wismut GmbH are incorporated into our corporate strategy.
This includes all stakeholders: current and potential employees, affected communities and residents, business partners, representatives from politics, media, associations, and authorities, as well as education and research. The anonymous online survey is now permanently available.
